Boilerplate has a way of being wrong. Rather than paste a component and then spend twenty minutes removing the parts you did not want, these generators take the decisions as options and emit only the code you asked for. Pick the component, set its options, copy the output. Every snippet is hand-written rather than produced by a framework, so there is no runtime and nothing to learn.

There are generators for the things that get written badly most often: flex and grid container definitions with the confusing properties already correct, responsive media queries in either min-width or max-width form, a modern CSS reset, custom properties for a spacing and colour scale, keyframe animations with sensible easing, and component snippets for cards, buttons, forms and badges.

Each generator shows a live preview beside the code, so you can see what the snippet looks like before it goes anywhere near your project. The output is mobile-first, uses logical properties where it improves things, and avoids the vendor prefixes that most boilerplate still carries around.

HTML & CSS Snippet Generator features

Flexbox and grid generators
Container definitions with direction, wrapping, alignment and gap, including the shorthand syntax that actually reads back correctly.
Media query builder
Mobile-first min-width or desktop-first max-width, in pixels, rem or em, with the breakpoint named.
Modern CSS reset
A reset for box-sizing, margins, media defaults and form inheritance, without the opinionated global rules that cause bugs.
Custom property scale
Generate spacing, radius, colour and typography variables with a consistent step scale you can extend.
Keyframe generator
Fade, slide, scale, spin and bounce, with the easing options that avoid the default linear timing which looks wrong.
Component snippets
Buttons in several variants, cards, forms and badges, using current properties rather than framework classes.
Live preview
See the result as you configure, so you are not copying code to find out it does not look right.
Clean, dependency-free output
Plain HTML and CSS with no build step, no runtime and no vendor prefixes, ready to paste in.

How to use the HTML & CSS Snippet Generator

  1. Choose a generator

Flexbox, grid, media query, CSS reset, custom properties, keyframes, button, card, form or badge.

  2. Set the options

Each generator exposes the decisions that matter, with the defaults following current practice rather than 2012 blog posts.

  3. Watch the preview

The live preview updates as you change options, using the same markup and CSS you are copying.

  4. Copy the code

HTML and CSS come out in separate tabs. Nothing is minified or mangled - this is code you are meant to own and edit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a framework for these snippets?

No. Everything generated here is plain HTML and CSS. Most of these patterns are a handful of declarations and a framework would be more weight than the feature. Use a framework when you are managing application state, not for a card or a button.

Should I use rem or px for media queries?

Use rem for breakpoints. It is the better choice because it responds to the user's root font size, which matters when someone has increased browser text size for accessibility. The generator supports px, rem and em so you can compare.

Should my breakpoints be mobile-first or desktop-first?

Mobile-first, meaning base styles target the smallest screen and min-width queries add from there. It avoids the cascade of overrides that desktop-first produces, and it is what this site's own stylesheet uses.

What is the difference between gap and margin for spacing?

Use gap. Margin-based spacing collapses unpredictably, applies to the outer edges as well as between items, and needs last-child exceptions. gap only ever applies between items and behaves consistently in both flex and grid.

Are CSS custom properties worth it versus SCSS variables?

They solve a different problem. SCSS variables are resolved at build time and do not exist in the browser, so they cannot be changed at runtime or read from JavaScript. Custom properties are real CSS values, which is what makes them useful for theming, for dark mode and for reading a computed colour in JavaScript.

Can I use the generated CSS reset as-is?

Yes, it is deliberately minimal. It normalises box-sizing, removes default margins, sets sensible media defaults and makes form controls inherit font styling. It does not reset everything to nothing, which is what makes most resets fight you later.
