About ToolForge
ToolForge is a collection of 16 free tools for images, colours and code. They share one property that is worth being precise about: every tool runs entirely inside your browser. When you drop a photo, paste JSON or inspect a token, your device does the work. Nothing is uploaded.
Why build them this way
Most online converters ask you to upload a file, wait for a progress bar, and then trust that whoever operates the service has handled your data responsibly. For a photo of your passport, a private API response or a production JWT, that is a poor trade for something as commonplace as changing a file format.
Doing it client-side is not only better for privacy, it is also faster and has no limits. There is no upload to wait for, no server processing queue, and no file size cap, because there is no server involved. Once a page has loaded, the tools keep working even if your connection drops.
How the tools are built
Image conversion uses the browser's own Canvas and WebAssembly APIs. Colour conversion and contrast checking implement the WCAG 2.1 relative luminance formula and the OKLCH perceptual colour space directly. Code minification uses the same libraries a production webpack or Vite build uses - terser for JavaScript, csso for CSS and html-minifier-terser for HTML - so the output matches what you would get from your own build pipeline.
We are careful about the failure modes. Image converters commonly return transparent pixels as black boxes, side-on phone photos, transparently re-encoded results, or a ".jpg" that is actually a PNG. Each of those is avoidable and each is tested for here.
What we do not do
- We do not upload, store or analyse your files or text.
- We do not add a watermark to any output.
- We do not require an account, and we do not ask for an email address to use a tool.
- We do not run scripts, ads or interstitials over the tool interfaces. Advertising sits outside the tool, never inside it.
- We do not sell or share your data, because we do not collect it.
How it is funded
ToolForge is free and the tools stay free. The site is funded by advertising, which is why you will see ad slots around the tools rather than inside them. Google AdSense serves those ads.
Because ads are involved, the site follows the privacy and cookie rules that apply in your region. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, ads are only personalised after you choose to allow them, through the consent message provided by Google's certified consent management platform. You can change your choice at any time in Google Ads Settings.
Full detail is in the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Terms of Use.
Corrections and requests
Tool descriptions, format tables and browser support notes are reviewed and dated, and every tool page shows when it was last reviewed. If something here is wrong, out of date, or a tool is missing, please tell us. Bug reports are particularly welcome, because a browser-specific failure in an image or encoding pipeline is usually one we have not seen yet.
