Free image tools that run in your browser

Convert between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and ICO with drag and drop. Batch convert, resize and check the size you saved, all without uploading a single file.

Image converters usually ask you to upload a file, wait on a progress bar, and then hope your photo is not stored somewhere you do not control. That is a poor trade for something as common as changing an image format, so these tools do it locally instead.

The pipeline here decodes your file to raw pixels once, applies any resize, and encodes the result once. It never re-compresses an intermediate format, which is what causes the compounding quality loss that makes some converters output a visibly worse image than the input. Transparency is flattened onto a background colour you choose rather than silently becoming black, and phone photo rotation is respected via the EXIF orientation tag.

Advanced codecs such as MozJPEG and OxiPNG load on demand when the browser supports them, giving better compression than the built-in encoders where they are available. Where they are not, the built-in path handles everything without a network request.

Image Tools questions

Is there a limit on the size or number of images I can convert?

No artificial limit, because nothing is uploaded. The practical ceiling is your device's memory. Browsers cap canvas dimensions at roughly 16384 pixels per side, and the tool checks those limits before processing so you get a clear message rather than a broken file.

Will converting an image reduce its quality?

Only if you convert to a lossy format and lower the quality setting. JPEG to PNG and PNG to PNG are lossless, so the pixels are identical. JPEG to WebP, WebP to AVIF and JPEG to JPEG at a quality below 100 all discard some data - the size readout next to each result tells you what you traded away.

Can I convert an image without changing its format?

Yes, and it is useful. Converting JPEG to JPEG with a lower quality setting re-compresses it more efficiently, and PNG to PNG with an advanced OxiPNG encoder can shrink a lossless file noticeably.

Do the tools support batch processing?

Yes. Add as many files as you like, and they convert with per-file progress. Download them individually or take the whole set as a single ZIP archive.

Why do my HEIC photos say unsupported?

HEIC decoding depends on the browser. Safari and recent Chrome and Edge builds can decode it; Firefox and older builds cannot. The tool reports the file as unsupported rather than producing a corrupt result, which is the honest answer rather than a silent failure.
